Wool Blend Blanket, Beautiful Colors

Outlast "Not Too Hot, Not Too Cold" technology, originally developed for NASA, utilizes phase change materials (PCM) that absorb, store and release heat for optimal thermal comfort. Outlast technology is comparable to ice in a drink; as it changes from solid to liquid, it absorbs heat and cools the drink, keeping that drink at the desired temperature for longer. Outlast phase change materials work in the same way, but are microencapsulated to be permanently enclosed and protected in a polymer shell. We call microencapsulated phase change materials Thermocules.

This encapsulation process makes the Thermocules exceptionally durable for many applications. These Thermocules can be incorporated into fabrics and fibers and have the capacity to absorb, store and release excess heat. This gives any product containing Outlast technology the ability to continually regulate skin’s microclimate. As the skin gets hot, the heat is absorbed, and as it cools, that heat is released.

Outlast technology is not wicking technology, which manages moisture by reacting to your sweat and pulling it away from the skin. Outlast technology will proactively manage heat while controlling the production of moisture before it begins.

This wool blend blanket proactively manages heat and moisture to give a better, more comfortable night's sleep. From menopausal women to thermally incompatible couples, Outlast technology is tested and proven to alleviate spikes in skin temperature that cause sleep disturbances.

This is not wicking but proactive heat management technology, because the key to really managing moisture is to manage the heat. This is why Outlast technology is superior in bedding products because it balances temperature under the covers to reduce overheating that can cause sweating, rather than wicking away the sweat after the fact. Better still, the more bedding products you use containing Outlast technology, the better the sleeping experience becomes. Please view the video at the video tab for further details.

Outlast Rating At-A-Glance
Outlast’s comfort rating system will help you distinguish the right product for you. Product performance is based on the following levels: Gold, Silver and Bronze. A higher rating indicates a greater capacity for heat storage, resulting in more comfort.

Gold: appeals to people who experience night sweats such as women exhibiting symptoms associated with menopause.

Silver: suited for thermally incompatible couples

Bronze: sufficient for normal sleepers in search of a more comfortable night's sleep.

** Products carrying the silver comfort rating do not offer the same heat and moisture management capabilities as our gold level core bedding products. This is due to the fact that an Outlast fiber is used as opposed to a fabric coated with substantially more Outlast technology found in our gold level products. As a result these blankets should be sold as a supplement to our gold level core bedding products, not a replacement.
*** White Damask Stripe is only available in Queen and King.
**** Twin, Twin XL, and Full only available in white.

Customer Reviews

Just wish it were just a little bit heavier by weight/thickness, just a little. First use will be this weekend and will know if current wt/thickness is what I am hoping for performance wise!
